Bodycam, released a new major update packed with content

Bodycam is one of those shooters that could easily pass as something created within the realms of Liveleak. It’s a hyper-realistic, Unreal Engine shooter that prioritises jaw-dropping physics, audio, and weapon handling that’s as true to life as possible, and it wraps it up in an extremely immersive and somewhat harrowing package.

Recently, the team at Reissad Studio, the developer behind Bodycam, released a new major update packed with content and some upgrades that have made this shooter even more realistic.

Feels Like a War Crime

Playing Bodycam is something that must be experienced rather than explained. It’s deeply ‘authentic’ and tries to walk the line between a video game and some snatched POV footage from the frontlines of a theatre of war.

In case you need a little more information or an idea of the experience waiting for you in Bodycam, here’s the new trailer to celebrate the major update the team just released:

This is the first major update to hit Bodycam since the game came out on Steam in June 2024, shocking gamers with how realistic it was – and remains to be.

The team at Reissad, headquartered in Paris, has added stacks of new content to Bodycam with this update:

New Maps: Two brand new environments are introduced: a massive CQB Power Gun map, which is the largest close-quarters environment to date, and also the most realistic one, thanks to intense scanning of a real location. And a new Village map designed for the enhanced Zombie mode. Finally, the interior of the existing Wornhouse map has also been completely reworked.

New Weapon: The Crossbow enters the arsenal – a powerful, silent, and deadly weapon, which will first be featured prominently in the updated Zombie map.

Zombie Mode Overhaul: The Zombie mode receives a rework, featuring more immersive enemy behavior, refined wave pacing, and new enemy types.

Additionally, the game has been migrated to Unreal Engine 5.5, unlocking some neat bonuses like advanced Lumen rendering and Virtual Shadow Maps. Further, optimization work has been applied aplenty, boosting the game’s efficiency on GPU and CPU usage.

The game’s most critical issues, such as desync, audio blips, and some UI gripes, have all been addressed.

In a statement, the Studio Director at Reissad, Luca Dassier, said:

We know that optimization and stability were non-negotiable for our community, and this update represents the first major fulfillment of that promise. By migrating to Unreal Engine 5.5 and establishing a dedicated internal QA team, we have fundamentally strengthened our development foundation. This structural growth, supported by additional staffing, ensures we can consistently deliver high-quality, game-changing updates throughout the Early Access period. We are actively listening and committed to making Bodycam the ultimate visceral FPS experience.
