Call of Duty Players Being Banned For Alleged Plunder “Boosting”

Some Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone players have reported being banned for allegedly boosting in Plunder to complete the Battle Pass and level up.

Instead of fighting to be the last team standing like traditional Warzone, in Plunder, squads race to collect two million in cash in a quick, 15-minute match with unlimited redeployments. Money can be earned by eliminating enemies, completing contracts, and partaking in events.

Players spawn with their own loadouts, and the map doesn’t shrink with gas, making it a much more casual experience. As such, players typically use the game mode to level up their weapons and unlock camos, as they don’t have to worry about going to the Gulag or searching for a new match. However, some players abused Plunder, and Activision reportedly responded.

CoD leaker TheGhostOfHope reported, “Getting many people saying they’re being banned for AFKing in Plunder to finish battle pass/level up. Activision now seems to consider it boosting, so I’d avoid doing it going forward to avoid permanent bans.”

AFK refers to stepping away from the game, and in Plunder, you don’t need to play to get XP. So, some players reportedly sit in one spot and reap the rewards without needing to do anything.

Warzone streamer LastChanceFPS claimed, “My account got perma-banned yesterday and ofc my appeal got upheld for ‘boosting.” I’ve had other ppl tell me this is due to AFKing plunder, but I have my doubts.”

Fellow Warzone player Adam Wotherspoon also claimed, “I’ve never played ranked (BO6 MP or WZ anyway) on this account, as it’s my alt. The only thing I can think of is when you AFK in plunder, it’s detectable. I wonder if all those with level 1000 accounts who did the same in zombies will have the same action taken.”

Wotherspoon questions whether Zombies players will also get banned if they go AFK in the game mode. It remains to be seen how many players will face a ban due to the exploit.

Are these bans justified?
