Bungie has revealed the full Year of Prophecy roadmap for Destiny 2, featuring new expansions, seasonal updates, a raid, a dungeon, and more.

Destiny 2 Year of Prophecy seems to be a major turning point for the game, and fans are excited. Bungie has finally pulled back the curtain on what’s coming next, and the roadmap is packed with new content. We’re talking two major expansions, a bunch of seasonal updates that are free for everyone, and a brand-new system that finally does away with dungeon keys.
The first big drop, The Edge of Fate, kicks things off this summer, with a new planet called Kepler. Players will get new movement abilities, gear, and a new raid just days after launch. Later in the year, another expansion called Renegades will follow, alongside more seasonal updates and a new dungeon.
In this article, we’ll go over everything Bungie has announced, including all the release dates, expansion features, and what players can expect from the full Year of Prophecy roadmap.
What’s Coming in Destiny 2: Year of Prophecy
Bungie is changing how content is rolled out. Instead of one big expansion per year, players will now get two, one in July and one in December, plus four Major Updates spaced out in between. These updates include new events, activities, and sandbox changes, and are free for all players.
The year kicks off with The Edge of Fate, releasing on July 15, 2025. This expansion introduces a brand-new location called Kepler, where exploration and puzzle-solving take center stage. The gameplay will include new abilities based on dark matter, including:
Matterspark for enhanced movement
Relocator Cannon lets you teleport
Mattermorph allows you to interact with the environment
Just a few days later, a new raid tied to the expansion will go live on Saturday, July 19, at 10 AM PT.

Then, in September 2025, the Ash & Iron update arrives with the return to the Plaguelands, a beloved location from Destiny 1’s Rise of Iron expansion. In addition, it will bring new and returning activities, changes to the sandbox, artifact mods, and new seasonal gear. This is part of the same season as The Edge of Fate and includes a rewards pass for cosmetics and loot.
In December 2025, the second expansion, Renegades, will launch. This one introduces a new dungeon (included with the expansion, no separate key required), along with new missions, weapons, and story content. It sets the stage for the second half of the year.
The final major update, Shadow & Order, will land on March 3, 2026. Like Ash & Iron, this update is available to all players and brings more activities, challenges, meta changes, and loot.
Each expansion and seasonal update comes with its own Rewards Pass, which includes exotic weapons and ornaments, legendary cosmetics, and more.
