OD and Physint are the games next up for Hideo Kojima. He’s been working on these two projects alongside Death Stranding 2. He’s an outstanding video-game auteur whose contributed greatly to the medium, but it seems his future could lie elsewhere, depending on how the future plays out.

Kojima isn’t one to shy away from the spotlight or details. He recently revealed that Death Stranding 2 was nearly stopped by the pandemic, and he’ll somehow keep making games once he’s passed. But one of his most recent interviews was an eye-opening reveal that he may not work with games forever.
Kojima Wants to Make a Movie, Not Just Games

The obvious joke is that much of Kojima’s work resembles movies. The Metal Gear Solid series became notorious for its excessive use of cutscenes in its storytelling. It’s clear Kojima has a brilliant and artistic mind with a fondness for a good narrative.
He recently spoke to Brut, and we’ve learned (translated through Genki) that Kojima wants to do more than games: “Hideo Kojima says that after making DS2, OD and PHYSINT he will take a look at the situation of Kojima Productions and if he is able to, he will go work on a film!“

Kojima is a huge movie buff, and it’s only logical he’d want to do this at least once. With the news that Physint won’t be ready until at least 2030, it seems unlikely Kojima will be making a movie anytime soon. Once we do reach this point, it’ll be interesting to see if he has a change of heart or if he does temporarily leave the games industry and create a movie.
