The official trailer for Guillermo del Toro‘s long-awaited Frankenstein is finally here. Netflix has dropped the new trailer which centers around Jacob Elordi‘s portrayal as the patchwork Creature.

The footage reveals a truly haunting transformation for Elordi, who is nearly unrecognizable as the Creature. Paired with Oscar Isaac as the ambitious but tormented scientist Victor Frankenstein, the film is a deeply felt and sophisticated take on Mary Shelley’s seminal novel. Del Toro’s version is expected to hew closely to the source material, focusing less on “science gone awry” and more on the human spirit, grief, and the consequences of abandonment.
The trailer features striking visuals—from a ship trapped in icy waters to a grand, glittering ballroom—all steeped in the director’s signature style. It also highlights the Creature’s voice and intellect, rather than presenting him as a mute monster. The trailer’s most chilling moment comes when the Creature narrates his fate: “If you are not to award me love, then I will indulge in rage.” This sets the tone for a tragic conflict. Frankenstein will debut in select theaters on October 17, 2025, before premiering globally on Netflix on November 7, 2025.
