Nintendo Switch 2 Price To Stay at $449 in the US as Pre-Order Date Revealed

Nintendo has revealed that the Nintendo Switch 2 will stay at $449 in the United States ($499 for the Mario Kart World bundle) amid concerns regarding tariffs. This news went hand in hand with the announcement that pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2 will start in the United States on April 24.

In a post on the Nintendo Blog, it was revealed that the Nintendo Switch 2 console’s pricing structure will remain unchanged, but accessories ‘will experience price adjustments from those announced on April 2.’

‘Other Adjustments Are Also Possible’

In a recent post on the Nintendo Blog, it was revealed that the Nintendo Switch 2 price will remain set at $449 for the base model or $499 for the model that comes with Mario Kart World.

Nintendo’s representatives wrote:

We apologize for the retail pre-order delay, and hope this reduces some of the uncertainty our customers may be experiencing. We thank our customers for their patience, and we share their excitement to experience Nintendo Switch 2 starting June 5, 2025.

The company then revealed a slew of manufacturers’ recommended retail prices for various games and accessories, accurate as of April 18:

• Nintendo Switch 2 All-In-One Carrying Case – $84.99

Days ago, Nintendo went on record explaining why the Switch 2 is so expensive. According to Bill Trinen, the VP of Player & Product Experience:

Number one, we’re unfortunately living in an era where I think inflation is affecting everything. And it’s affecting everything from day-to-day prices, it’s affecting technology and things of that nature.I think we’re also seeing smart devices now… I wish they were not nearly as expensive as they are. They’re certainly a lot more expensive than they were when they originally came out in the mid-2000s. So as you add more technology into a system, especially in this day and age, that drives additional cost.

Hilariously, Nintendo also advised consumers that if they can’t afford a Switch 2, they should just settle for a Switch, which will be supported for some time to come.
