Square Enix Cancels Kingdom Hearts: Missing-Link, Confirms Kingdom Hearts IV Still in Development

Square Enix has officially announced the cancellation of Kingdom Hearts: Missing-Link, a mobile action RPG initially slated for iOS and Android devices. Despite this setback, the company reassures fans that development on Kingdom Hearts IV is actively ongoing.

Originally announced in April 2022, Missing-Link was designed as a GPS-based game connecting the narratives between Kingdom Hearts Union χ and Kingdom Hearts IV. After conducting multiple closed beta tests, Square Enix determined that sustaining a satisfactory long-term service would be challenging, leading to the decision to cancel the project. In a statement, the company expressed gratitude to participants of the beta tests and apologized to fans anticipating the game’s release.

While Missing-Link will not be moving forward, Square Enix confirms that Kingdom Hearts IV remains in development. The upcoming installment is set to continue the series’ legacy, introducing new adventures and expanding the universe that fans have come to cherish.
