Activision threatened to take legal action against the manufacturer of Cronus hardware if it doesn’t stop selling external devices that allow Black Ops 6 and Warzone players to cheat.

A Cronus Zen is a USB device that can easily be plugged into a console or PC. It allows players to alter mechanics like aim assist and recoil control, or use mods to convert semi-automatic weapons to fully automatic weapons. Being able to aim better and push weapons beyond their limits in BO6 and Warzone provides an unfair advantage.

Cronus devices pose a serious threat because they are relatively inexpensive and can be purchased from retail stores. In January 2024, Sony took matters into its own hands by releasing a system update that blocks Cronus devices from working, and now it’s Activision’s turn to respond.

Taking down Cronus would be huge for Call of Duty.

CharlieIntel reported, “Activision has sent a cease and desist letter to the manufacturer of Cronus hardware in an attempt to stop the company from selling their Cronus Zen hardware in an attempt to further crack down on Call of Duty cheaters.”

In a RICOCHET Anti-Cheat update blog, Activision confirmed, “We have delivered cease and desist demands to several companies that create and sell these products and will take them to court if necessary.”

Cronus has not responded to the cease and desist demand, but Activision has no intention of backing down.

Activision also confirmed that 150 Call of Duty cheat resellers have either been shut down or their software has been rendered ineffective. Additionally, the latest Anti-Cheat update improved response times, meaning that, on average, accounts are banned within four matches when they cheat.

The Anti-Cheat team has an arsenal of internal countermeasures to detect wrongdoing, but players also have tools to help. The death widget provides information about how you were eliminated to help better differentiate between legitimate and illegitimate kills.
