Gearbox unveiled a post-launch roadmap for Borderlands 4 well ahead of the official September 12 release date.

Gearbox head Randy Pitchford was criticized for saying “real fans” will pay $80 for Borderlands 4 if that’s the price of the game. Pitchford slightly walked back the comment on X, arguing that it was not his intent to take fans for granted.
In the end, fans had nothing to worry about, as the base version of Borderlands 4 will cost $69.99. Yet, if fans do decide to purchase one of the more expensive editions, they include post-launch content for free.
Borderlands 4 Post-Launch Roadmap Explained

In a pre-order blog post for Borderlands 4, Gearbox revealed a roadmap for post-launch content. The Standard Edition does not include any post-launch content; however, the Deluxe Edition, priced at $99.99, and the Super Deluxe Edition, priced at $129.99, do.

4 unique areas, featuring new missions and unique bosses.
4 Vault Cards with unique challenges and rewards.
New gear and weapons.
New Vault Hunter cosmetics.
4 New vehicles with new cosmetics.
Super Deluxe Edition
The Super Deluxe Edition includes the Bounty Pack Bundle and an additional Bundle.
Vault Hunter Pack

Gearbox did not reveal precisely how Vault Cards will work, but did state that they function similarly to how they worked in Borderlands 3, meaning you can expect more loot and XP for challenges. Additionally, there will be free updates post-launch, even if you don’t purchase an upgraded edition.
