PlayStation Productions’ live-action Horizon Zero Dawn movie has received a release period.

This update appears in a sworn declaration filed in Sony’s lawsuit against Tencent, which confirms a 2026 shoot and a 2027 release for the adaptation. In the filing, PlayStation Productions head Asad Qizilbash frames Aloy, the series’ protagonist, as a key icon for the anticipated film and important to the flywheel of franchise building.
The Horizon adaptation is a collaboration between Columbia Pictures and PlayStation Productions. The project already has a working script and is set to focus on Aloy’s origin story. Additional details, such as a cast and director, are yet to be announced.
Columbia and PlayStation’s upcoming adaptation pivots from a previously planned Netflix series that was cancelled in mid-2024. This feature approach resets momentum around the IP’s big-screen potential, with the release window suggesting that Sony wants to capitalize on the franchise’s long-term cadence.
