An intriguing tweet from Prince of Persia socials suggests that not only is the game doing quite well, but a The Lost Crown sequel isn’t out of the question yet.

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is closer to the franchise’s roots than many realize. The Sands of Time, The Warrior Within, and so forth were evolutions of the OG gameplay. Whereas The Lost Crown retraces its lineage and expands upon it with fresh Metroidvania elements. It made for one of 2024’s most underrated games.
It sold 1.3 million copies in its first year. This wasn’t enough to stop its development team from being disbanded?

Nearly a year and a half on and the Prince of Persia X page has announced a milestone. The game has accumulated over 2 million players and counting!
Now, we did bring you an exclusive report in October 2024 saying the game’s devs have been moved to three new projects at Ubisoft. But the milestone message does say: Well over 2M players by now. You’ve revived the legend. The Prince is back, and believe us — he’s just warming up.”
This suggests we’re getting more Sargon, and possibly Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown 2.
We already know the Prince of Persia: The Sand of Time Remake is still in development, but you think it would have been mentioned directly. For now, let’s enjoy the success of The Lost Crown. A sequel is welcome, and if it happens, we’ll monitor whether it’s the same development team.
